At
only thirty one years of age, Jason is becoming a crafty
veteran and has established himself as one of the most successful stars in the exciting world of "Sprint
Car Racing".
Jason has raced
and won in stock cars, mini sprints, outlaw winged
modifieds and sprint cars in his career. With twelve years
of experience racing sprint cars, Jason's record of
accomplishments already rivals or exceeds veteran drivers
with many more years of racing experience on the circuit.
1998 was
Jason’s first full year of traveling to National Events
throughout the southern states. Jason won two national
events. One USCS race in Winona, Ms. and an ASCS race in
Rusk, TX.
During the 1999
season, Jason decided that a change was needed to become
more informed about the sprint car racing industry. He
took the opportunity to work for Steve Kinser, the 18 time
World of Outlaw Sprint Car Champion.
The commitment to learn from the best in the
business enabled him to become an expert on maintenance
and experience traveling across the United States.
In year 2000,
Jason accomplished his lifelong goal of becoming a
professional race car driver.
Teaming up with Lanny and Alan Row of “The SHOP
Motorsports” in Greenville, TX., and Jason won the
“Holiday of Thunder” race in Sedalia, Missouri on
Memorial Day. Shortly
after, he won again at newly built, Houston Raceway Park
in Houston, TX. But his winning didn’t stop until he
dominated the U.S. Dirt Nationals at the Action Track in
Terre Haute, Indiana. Jason clinched third place in the
ASCS National Point Championship. Jason also won the
“Most Improved Driver in ASCS competition in 2000”
2001 Jason started the year off in Florida driving “The
Shop Motorsports” sprinter, with a dash win against some
of the toughest competition in the nation including the
2000 World of Outlaw Champion. All top 10 finishes at East
Bay Raceway gave Jason the opportunity to drive for
“Elden Racing.”
At Butler Speedway in Quincy, Michigan, Jason won his
first All Star Circuit of Champions race on July 14th.
Three open competition races were won, including two at
Sharon Speedway in Ohio and one at Tri City Speedway in
Pennsylvania. Jason also set new track records at
Portsmouth Speedway in Ohio and Hartford Speedway in
Michigan. Then it was back in “The Shop Motorsports”
#41 for a win on the ASCS National Tour, September 28th
that came at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas.
During
the 2002 racing season Jason raced “The Shop Motorsports
“ sprinter on a true outlaw schedule. Races were run
with the World of Outlaws, All Star Circuit of Champions,
American Sprint Cars Series and National Championship
Racing Association and many unsanctioned events. The wins
came with the All Stars, American Sprint Car Series and
National Championship Racing Association. After many top
fives, Al Harrison of Ohio hired Jason. They completed the
season together running with the All Stars. After the U.S.
season ended it was off to Australia for the Wild West
Sprint Speedweek. With one more win to add to the season,
Jason captured the Speed Week title for 2002/2003.
The 2003 season was Jason’s stellar year. Five wins with
the All Star Circuit of Champions, The Jack Hewitt
Classic, KC Speedway Sprint special and the World of
Outlaws Cheaper Than Dirt Shootout in Fort Worth, Texas.
A solid second in points with the All Star Circuit of
Champions proved that Jason is a potential winner
anywhere he goes. Then he began his second Australia
season competing with the World
Series Sprintcars. Two wins and twelve top fives in a fourteen-race
schedule produced a second in the final point standings.
He also was the first American to capture the Sprint
Car Masters race since nineteen ninety-seven.
2004 season was Jason's first attempt at the Knoxville
Raceway Championship. Driving the Cox Fabrication Designs,
Full Throttle Racing Maxim, Jason did manage to win eight
feature events with the Bruce Cox team. Feature wins came
at Knoxville 410 division, two wins in the NCRA, SCOA, co
sanction events, two wins with the All Stars, NCRA, co
sanction events, one IRA win and two ASCS wins which
included the preliminary at the Knoxville 360 Nationals.
Jason also had two wins for the Disbury Racing team in
Australia at Adelaide Speedway.
The 2005
season was a successful and eventful season. Jason raced
for Jim and Sandy Kline from Pa. Racing with the Pa Posse
proved that Jason can win against competition from
anywhere he has competed in his career. Jason won the
World Of Outlaw opener for the Summer Nationals, along
with four other wins in the tough Pa. area. Jason also won
against the ASCS National tour for Speed Weeks and twice
in Australia.
2006 has been
Jason's most successful racing year ever driving for the
Shop Motorsports #41 of Lanny and Al Row. With 24 wins in
Australia and the United States, he became one on the
winnings drivers in the nation. Jason was voted #1 driver
in the 360 poles for 2006. The Shop Motorsports also won
National Team of the year. With wins coming in the World
Series Sprintcars, ASCS, NCRA and at Knoxville The wins
came not only in a 360, but with a 410. The season was
capped of by highlights such as ASCS Speedweek Champion,
Iowa Speedweek Champion and a win at the prestigious
I-30 Short Track Nationals. It wasn't a win, but third
place at the Knoxville Nationals proved that a Jason can
compete with the best in the nation.
Back with the Shop
Motorsports in 2007, Jason finished second in points with
the ASCoT national tour. Amassing 22 wins on the
season, success was found with the ASCoT, ASCS regional
tours, USCS and World Series Spintcars in Australia and
Tasmania. Jason's biggest wins of the season were at The
Winter Nationals in Mesquite Tx. and with the WSS
Speedweek $10,000 to win races.
Once again Jason and the
Shop Motorsports team will be back on the ASCoT tour for
2008. Jason will splitting driving duties as Marvin
Pearson out of Louisiana has teamed up for regional ASCS
events.
