Johnson takes Texarkana

jason & sponsor The "Racin Cajun", Jason Johnson showed a clean pair of heels to take wins in both his heat and feature race in the Gulf Southern ASCS showdown at Texarkana Speedway on Friday night.

Travis Rilat slid Johnson going into one and two of the final lap to take the lead only to have Johnson return the favor through three and four to take the heat win.

The immaculately presented number 41 racecar now proudly supported Chuck DeCrane and Custom Equipment Design started the feature race of the quarter mile clay oval from position two.

Sides looking to have the race run and won until he slide up and over the cushion in three and four with only two laps to run. This left the door open for Johnson to power away and take his fifth ASCS win for the season.

"We had a bit of trouble in our heat race when we dropped a cylinder with lead shorting out otherwise the car is travelling real nice. The guys are giving me great car each night and we are having a lot of fun" explained Johnson.

Johnson wins back to back at Oklahoma

March 25, 2006

oak win Oklahoma City, Oklahoma( March 25) Jason Johnson backed his preliminary night win with another thrilling feature win in the Spring Nationals at Oklahoma’s City State Fair Speedway. Starting on the second row in third position for the 30 lap feature Johnson endured a dog fight for the first two laps with Jesse Hockett before driving away to chase two times Series Champion Gary Wright who had opened up a handy lead.

Johnson worked the uncustomary bottom of the raceway as the lead pair entered lapped traffic. Although able to drive off the corners and edge under Wright he was unable to seize the lead away.

A caution on lap nineteen had the yellow flags flying. Johnson lined his number 41 Shop Diesel entered Eagle up in second place behind Wright. Hot on the heels of our early pace setters sat the vastly experienced veteran Danny Lasoski.

With clear track Wright drove away with Johnson in pursuit. Using the high line into turns one and two and low around three the front three front runners lapped. Lasoski drove under Johnson on lap 21 only to see Johnson drive back around the high side.

On lap 23 Johnson took the lead from Wright with Lasoski following close behind. Closing the door on Lasoski with five to run the yellow flags flew again for a spinning car.

On the restart with clean air Johnson drove away to take the win from Lasoski and Hockett. With some confusion with the white flag being shown for two laps Johnson left no doubt racing hard till the checkered flag fell.

Standing in victory lane having recorded his first win in a ASCOT event for the season Johnson expressed his delighted to have swept the weekends action.

“The Shop Motorsports guys gave me a great car this weekend, I really have to thank them” said Johnson. When questioned as how the race unfolded he replied “some times it’s easier to be second on the track as it gives you the opportunities to try different lines. After the dash we weren’t real happy with the car so we went back to the set up we ran last night.”

The racing sensation that is Jason Johnson and The Shop Motorsport team continue to excite each time they hit he track. Keep up to date with all the results at www.jasonjohnsonracing.com.

In true Johnson style he took to the high side on the now super fast raceway and rounded up those in front of him and drove away for a convincing win.

Whilst the team prepared for the preliminary feature event and the last of the qualifying heats was running weather intervened and the nights racing rained out. With forecasts of further storms the teams sit and wait to see if the final nights racing will occur in this the 33rd Annual Devils Bowl Speedway Spring Nationals.

“We had the car really nice in the qualifying race, it felt good wherever I put it on the track” Johnson explained by telephone. “We’ll just have to wait and see what happens with the weather, its not looking good right now but tomorrows another day”.
