A Busy Night Of Racing At Knoxville Raceway As Johnson Double Dips And Brings Home Two Top Ten Finishes
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 18, 2013) - The Stenhouse Jr. Racing team arrived back in Knoxville to race at the famous half mile oval on Saturday night. The driver and crew would be busy though as they elected to compete in both the 360 and 410 divisions to gets some more laps around the black clay racing surface in the Valvoline/Ben Cook Racing Products #41 Maxim. With time trials set for both divisions, the Louisiana speedster used his Roush Yates Ford engines to power around the oval in 15.515 seconds with his 410 sprinter and 16.218 seconds with his 360 entry. The times represented good laps overall and when qualifying was completed he was 10th quick in the 410 and 8th quick in the 360. When the heat races were set to go Jason started fifth in his 360 heat and raced his way directly into the A-Main with a fourth place finish. Jumping out of one cockpit and into the ButlerBuilt Professional Racing Seat in his 410 for the first heat race, he replicated his fourth place finish to place his Xtreme Accu-Tach/Chalk Stix mount into the finale. For the 360 feature, the three-time ASCS Champion was on the pole and when the green lights illuminated he jumped out to the early lead after numerous cautions halted earlier attempts to get the 18-lap event started. On an early race restart he temporarily lost the lead to Nate Van Haaften but stole the lead back when the two entered slower traffic later in the race. With an incredible race at the front of the pack, Brian Brown took the lead with three to go and Clint Garner slipped by to claim the second spot with Jason running third. The three would cross the line in that order to claim the top three podium spots. In the 410 feature event, Jason started ninth in his MSD Performance/Hoosier Racing Tires entry. With a great racing surface to compete on he navigated at speed around the oval searching for any and all opportunities to steal a position in the running order. After twenty hard fought laps he secured his second top ten finish for the night as he crossed the stripe in seventh place after Davey Heskin took the win.
