Cajun Puts on a Show at Knoxville Raceway with an Impressive Runner-Up Finish on a Fast Track
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 19, 2012) - With a weekend off on the ASCS National schedule, Jason Johnson and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team travelled back to Knoxville Raceway to compete in 360 action in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Valvoline #41 Maxim.
Using a group time trial format, Jason showed his Roush Yates Engines speed laying down the fastest lap of the night at 15.895 seconds. With a six pill drawn for the inversion it put the Louisiana speedster on the outside of row three at the start of the first heat. Using all the lanes on the racy track, Jason used the high side to advance forward at the start  and then ducked under second running Josh Higday in his pursuit for the lead. He then peered through the shield of his Shell Shocked painted Aria Helmet at race leader Tony Shilling. It didn't take long for him to power to the leader's rear nerf bar before making the pass for the lead and charging to the heat race victory. For the A-Main, he would again line up from the sixth starting position. When the green flag waved he pounded the loud pedal and summoned all the power his Ford could supply charging up to the third spot after the first lap. He continued his forward assault using the high side of the famed half mile to steal the second spot as he then focused on chasing down the leader, Jon Agan. As the crossed flags were displayed, Johnson was closing the distance between his front wing and the leader. As the leaders caught up to the back of the pack, Johnson surged forward and closed in on the leader in turns three and four, but on a locked down and really fast racing surface he was not able to make the final pass and finished with an impressive second place.
